I accidentally used the key to unlock the car and the alarm sounded I quickly closed the door and I think I hit the buttons on the fob I'm really not sure it was so alarming. Now the car will not start and the fob is not working either.

Thanks for reaching out I have tried the 3x and then start on 4th Tried jumping the car no luck Again, a deceptively sideways error in logic, Grasshopper. As the questioner didn't mention an aftermarket system, and ALL Subarus have a factory passive system that "alarms" when electronically locked and subsequently is unlocked manually, the first solution is ALWAYS to reset the system with the triple key-twist GuruT5DM8 answered 2 years ago.

I need to know if it's possible to bypass the alarm system and Hotwire the car the keys were lost on the job site is mom bought him the car and she lives in Oregon where in Indiana. Ann answered about a year ago. Subaru can cut a new key to start the car. Take identification and owners card to dealer. They will look up the number and cut a key on the spot.

I did this. TheSubaruGuruBoston answered about a year ago. Then you take the new key and cycle it fully in the ignition three times and the car will start. Abe answered about a year ago. TheSubaruGuruBoston deserves a medal.

How the immobilizer works in a 2003 Subaru Impreza

Picked up my car from the shop. Parked at Walmart. Googled this. Found this thread. Turned three times and on the fourth, magic.I have a unusual problem Saturday evening after I finished my work I went to my car unlocked the car and left my backpack in itlocked the car using the key remote button.

I returned to my van, finished some paperwork. I did it manually and the car didn't start I presumed is the key battery was dead. I brought another battery, hopping the first one was a"new old" battery I don't have the 4 digits code I don't have another key I presume the sync between immobilizer and the key is gone kept to long the key without the battery so I called 2 car locksmiths I went back toy car today I measured the car battery. I called AA recovery man. We started the car by bump start I don't know what to do next.

Thank you. Subaru dealer should be able to provide the 4 digit code if it's a standard UK Sigma alarm. Just prove to them you're the owner V5 etc. On the current problem, try disconnect the car battery for about 30 minutes. If the alarm sounds immediately, try the remote button may help if it's close to the car. If no alarm sound, depress the brake pedal a couple of times to bleed any residual current, then reconnect the car battery. Then try the key button.

Thanks Greenmamba. Is not that secure then. I was able to bring the car home. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. This review is based upon 1, miles of ownership.

I'll update once I get to 10, miles. It's stunning, really. I give the system a B. You can set the aggressiveness to which the cruise control returns you to your programmed speed, which is a great feature. Much better than my Lincoln's base stereo. You want this engine for drivability and passing power.

MPG will fall as your speed exceeds 70mph. It does not call attention to itself at all. Unlike most car reviewers, I drive like a normal person, not a maniac, and I think the transmission and engine work together very smoothly. The turbo models have double-pane glass, which is another reason to get the turbo engine. This is a great highway car, especially with the adaptive cruise and lane centering.

The doors have a very heavy, solid feeling, like a German car.

The trunk lid does feel somewhat cheap though. For me, the lumbar support is very lacking, even when fully extended. Long trips give me a sore lower back. I appreciate the extendable thigh support, but wish that the front of the seat tipped up a little more so I could feel the thigh support more strongly.

It sometimes forgets my sound equalizer and fader settings.

Hard to use Waze while driving. It's pointless and distracting. I have completely turned off all the indicator lights on the heads up display, which alert you to the fact that the system has locked on to a car in front of you [the system also beeps], or that the system has disengaged for some reason. There are other indicators on the dash that tell you the same thing, so the heads up indicators and beeps are redundant and are switched off on my car.

This is the first car I've had which had it, and I'm really trying to get used to it. Unfortunately, it is unrefined and results in an overly noticeable shudder when activating. And when I want it to shut off a long time, it restarts again after only about 20 seconds. I don't like pulling into my garage; the car shuts off when I stop, and when I shift to park, the car restarts again, only to have me shut it off immediately after.

You can shut the system off, but you have to key three buttons every time you restart the car.Subaru Legacy owners have reported 7 problems related to ignition under the electrical system category. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
